We found that the beads are full of polymer, so they absorb LOTS of water! Before we put them in water they were 2 mm wide. After being in water for 24 hours they were 15 mm wide! We also found that the water level decreased from 240 mL to about 200 mL. The extra water was absorbed by the beads. Another thing we learned is that the weight of 3 beads increased from .5 grams to about 10 grams! We observed all kinds of cool properties, so be sure to ask your child his/her observations.
