As an added bonus, Mrs. Hammond flew Dr. Trey Driggers and Ms. Kristin Hannan to Jay to talk to us about sharks and sign coloring books. They helped us do the research for the coloring book. It was a grand day, complete with reporters from Grand Lake News Online, The Grand Lake Chronicle, The Delaware County Journal, and The News on 6. Grand Lake News Online did a story. The News on 6 did a story as well. The others will be published this week, so check your local newsstands!
Students brought all kinds of gifts they made the scientists, including NOAA posters, a catshark research notebook, a NOAA duct tape tie and purse, arrowheads, flowers, a model arrow, and NOAA decorated cookies. Mayor Wall made it extra special by naming May 9th as "NOAA Day in Jay!" We will never forget that day. We are so glad that we get to share what we learned from the NOAA Teacher at Sea trip with other students and teachers around the world! Thank you to Mrs. Hammond, Mrs. Annetta, Dr. Driggers, and Ms. Hannan for making our dream a reality!
